Shawn Mlynek
Tenor Shawn Mlynek is one of the co-founders and artistic directors of Cincinnati Chamber Opera. Mlynek hails from Toledo, Ohio, and has received much acclaim for the beauty and clarity of his instrument, as well as his strong stage presence. A versatile singer, Mlynek feels at home in a wide variety of repertoire, ranging from the high-lying haute-contre music of the french baroque to Mozart, and bel canto to contemporary. As a soloist, he has performed in both operatic and recital venues in the USA such as Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, Dallas' City Performance Hall, as well as engagments with such companies as the Indianapolis Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Chicago's Haymarket Opera, and the Aspen Opera Theatre Center. Mlynek received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and is a proud alum of CCM, The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he received his Masters of Music.
In addition to an active performing schedule, Mlynek is passionate about teaching and keeps a studio of 25 singers in the greater Cincinnati Area. Many of his students have gone on to major conservatories and theatre programs.
